Throughout the year we will be highlighting a few titles that are considered to be "stuck" on VHS, with no physical releases since the format (discounting VHS transfers on DVDs, etc.) for various reasons, i.e. legal ownership disputes, music licensing issues, or perhaps just perceived lack of interest.
This month join us for special presentation happening as a Friday night event, celebrating the life of Wings Hauser with 2 back-to-back stuck-on-VHS titles that Wings directed and starred in for direct-to-video extaordinaires PM Entertainment.
THE ART OF DYING (1991) & LIVING TO DIE (1990)
From the back of the box:
THE ART OF DYING
HOLLYWOOD STARLETS. HOLLYWOOD DREAMS, AND A THOUSAND WAYS TO DIE.
"Sam Peckinpah, Martin Scorsese, DePalma and Hitchcock never went far enough,: Roscoe Went screams as he sends his knife careening into his latest victim. Wings Hauser (A Soldiers Story, Deadly Force) teams up with Michael J. Pollard (Dick Tracy, Bonnie & Clyde) to solve a string of murders that are reminiscent of famous Hollywood death scenes. Roscoe's 'high noon' is a 'midnight showdown' exploding on the streets of Hollywood. This intense drama also features a fine supporting cast with Kathleen Kinmont (Halloween IV, Rollerblade, Bride of the Re-Animator), Sarah Douglas (Superman, Beastmaster II) and Sydney Lassick (One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest).
LIVING TO DIE
SOME PEOPLE PLAY FOR MONEY.
SOME PEOPLE PLAY FOR KEEPS
When Vegas gaming commissioner Edward Minton is blackmailed, he turns to Ex-Cop Nick Carpenter for help. But when the beautiful woman Minton supposedly murdered "miraculously" turns up alive, Nick realizes he is in over his head. "Living to Die" is a fast-paced suspense tale of murder, money, lies and lust set against the pulsating neon back drop of Las Vegas.
